Avondale United 2 – Tramore Athletic 3

It took a goal in the first half of extra time for Tramore Athletic U11’s, to advance to the second round of the National Cup last weekend at the expense of Avondale United. It was a gripping encounter with very little between the teams. Some good work by Conor O’Loughlin on the right, and a great through pass by Cathal Crowley lead to Conor Foley giving the visiting Tramore Athletic a goal lead. The home team equalised just before half time. Early in the second half Tramore stamped their authority on the game with brothers Luke and Zach Burton linking up well in attack, and mean defending by Cormac Towe and Taha Al Salihi in defence. Foley added a second shortly after and Avondale equalised with 5 minutes to go. Cian O’Dubhghaill and Killian McGowan swapped positions at the start of the extra time period and this switch proved to be a master stroke. McGowan’s pace and shooting ability was rewarded when he was on hand to turn in, what proved to be the decider, from point blank range. Tireless running by Fiachra O’Luanaigh kept the Avondale defence under pressure and Tramore's reliable goalkeeper, Conor Purcell kept out a last ditch attempt to give the hardworking Tramore Athletic a place in the next round. Tramore face the winners of Mayfield Utd or Springfield Ramblers in the next round
