Tramore Athletic, based just off the South Douglas Road in Cork city is one of the top amateur clubs in the country. The club celebrated its 60th anniversary last season.
Its existence came in to being in 1947 when players from Turners Cross, Douglas & Blackrock deciding to form a new club. As the Tramore river was a common link with those three localities Tramore Athletic was the name chosen by the founders.
They were formed at a gathering in the doorway of O’ Connell’s corner house pub (Turners Cross Tavern) by John O’ Sullivan, Mossie Cronin, Des Doherty, Michael Dwyer & Leonard Gould
Tramore became one of the founding members of the Cork Schoolboys league. They claimed there first ever trophy in 1954 (u14 league) & by the time the league celebrated its 21st birthday Tramore were top of the honours list!
The club presently enjoys teams ranging from adult all the way down to Under 7's and a dedicated team of managers, coaches and volunteers that all contribute to make this club the great club that it is!
